The Black Parade Returns: My Chemical Romance Takes Over San Antonio
October 6, 2026
The My Chemical Romance brought The Black Parade 2026 Stadium Tour to the Alamodome in San Antonio to celebrate 20 years of one of the most influential rock albums of its generation. Nearly 50,000 fans were expected to fill the stadium for the show, with The Mars Volta joining MCR as the special guest.
From the opening moments, the production felt less like a traditional concert and more like a full theatrical experience. My Chemical Romance performed The Black Parade in its entirety, bringing songs like “Dead!,” “The Sharpest Lives,” “I Don’t Love You,” “Mama,” and, of course, “Welcome to the Black Parade” to one of San Antonio’s biggest stages.
I attended this one as a fan and photographed it from my seat with a point-and-shoot camera rather than my usual professional setup. That limitation became part of the experience. Instead of working the event, I could simply enjoy the show while still looking for those moments that make live music photography special: dramatic lighting, silhouettes, massive stage visuals, and the energy of a stadium crowd completely locked into the performance.
For someone who appreciates both photography and production, this show delivered on every level. The lighting, staging, storytelling, video production, and performance all worked together to create something much bigger than a setlist.
My Chemical Romance did not simply bring The Black Parade back to San Antonio. For one night at the Alamodome, they brought an entire era back to life.
